Solar Power

Carib Sun Energy makes it easy to get started with solar. You’ll enjoy the benefits of our highly trained team in solar energy system design, permitting, installation, system comissioning, rebate acquisition, system monitoring and service. Going solar is a simple, seamless switch to cheaper, cleaner electricity, and our exceptional customer service is always just a phone call away. Our main objective is to provide you our customer with a low cost, high efficient system that is tailored to your needs.

How do you get started?

1. Evaluate your home

Confirm going solar is right for you by reviewing the following:

  • Do you own your home or building?

  • Do you have roof or yard space – with little or no shading – facing south, east or west?

  • Do you pay too much a month for electricity?

If you answered YES to all three then you can get started with solar – keep going!

2. Get a free solar consultation

Now that you’ve done the initial evaluation, one of our solar experts will provide a free in-depth solar consultation. After this quick analysis, we can design a solar power system to fit your needs.

3. System Installation

Carib Sun Energy will manage all installation aspects – beginning with a feasibility report, design and permit procurement all the way to comissioning your system – and guarantee that the installation goes as planned. Our certified installers will get the job done safely and professionally so you can enjoy the seamless transition to clean, renewable energy for your home or business.

4. Turn your system on and start producing

Once installation is complete, we’ll activate your system and set you up with web-based monitoring. This service helps us ensure everything is performing as expected, and it’s a convenient and powerful way for you to keep track of your electrical production and use; and frankly, it’s kinda fun to watch!

Grid-Tie System

GRID TIE DURING A SUNNY DAY

Solar electric systems generate electricity silently and without any moving parts. Sunlight falls on the solar array and generates DC electricity. That DC electricity is converted into household 240V AC electricity by the inverter. The AC electricity is fed into your electric meter and circuit breaker panel. The electricity either goes to your appliances and lights, or to the grid, or some to each. This happens silently and automatically every day.

GRID TIE AT NIGHT OR DURING A CLOUDY DAY

At night and during cloudy weather, the solar system’s output is reduced or stopped; however, your home then gets electricity from the utility grid. You are always connected to the grid, so you can have as much power as you need, any time you need it, regardless of whether the solar system is able to put out any power.

When the solar system does put out power, it reduces your usage at the time, or, if there is excess, your meter spins backwards, counting down your electric use and bill.  The only down side is that during a utility power outage a standard grid tie system will not produce power until the grid power is available. If this is a issue read on.

Off-Grid System

GRID TIE WITH BATTERY BACKUP

This refers to a system that has all the advantages of both a grid tie system and an off grid system. When utility grid power is available the system works just like a standard grid tie system and sells excess power back to the utility. But unlike a standard grid tie system, when the utility power fails the battery backup supply the home with power. Once the utility grid is up again the system automatically switches back to normal operation and recharges batteries.

OFF GRID

With off grid power you are your own electric company because your energy system isn't connected to the utility power grid. When the sun shines you store excess electricity in batteries and use it when the sun is not visible. An off-grid inverter can convert the DC energy from solar panels and batteries into AC electricity which powers your appliances.
